Cardi B Expresses Continued Support for Kamala Harris After Donald Trump Victory: “She Did A Lot”

Despite Kamala Harris losing the U.S. presidential election to Donald Trump, Cardi B is still standing by her. The Grammy-winning rapper, who previously campaigned for Harris and spoke at her rally in Milwaukee, took to social media to express her pride in the vice president, offering words of encouragement following the election results.

As Trump pulled ahead in electoral votes, Cardi B shared her frustration, posting on social media, “I hate y’all bad.” During an Instagram Live session later that night, she commented on Harris’ absence at a planned speech at Howard University, acknowledging the emotional toll the outcome might have had on her. “I see that Kamala didn’t come out to talk at Howard [University], and as strong as she is, I know that she’s probably emotional right now,” Cardi said. The former district attorney had been scheduled to address her supporters from her alma mater but canceled the appearance.

Proud of Kamala Harris: A Message of Empowerment

Cardi B continued to offer words of support for Harris, emphasizing the importance of the vice president’s historic candidacy. “I just hope that she knows that no matter what happens tonight, millions of people are proud of her. I’m proud of her,” Cardi said. “Women of color are proud of her. Y’all know how I felt at the beginning of the year. I didn’t want to vote for [anybody]. She changed my mind. I felt like she was very honest.”

Earlier in the election cycle, Cardi had been outspoken about her disillusionment with politics, even stating in May that she wouldn’t be voting. Despite interviewing President Joe Biden in 2020, she felt disappointed by unfulfilled promises and the struggles faced by everyday Americans, including the rising cost of living and stagnant wages.

Cardi B Reflects on Harris’ Role in the Campaign

In her Instagram Live, Cardi also reflected on the role Harris played in this election cycle, particularly after Joe Biden unexpectedly withdrew from the race in July. “They kept her too much in the background. A lot of people were asking, ‘Well, what was Harris doing?’ and I know for a fact that she just didn’t have too much power last year,” Cardi explained. “They put her in a position this year to practically save the day, and she did a lot. I’m proud of her, and I hope that she’s proud of herself.”

Since becoming the Democratic nominee, Harris has received significant support from various artists and celebrities, including Lil Nas X, Lizzo, Eminem, and Beyoncé, many of whom have publicly backed her, attended events, and shared their support on social media. Despite the election’s outcome, Cardi’s message of pride and empowerment for Harris remains clear.
