The 2024 Whitney Art Party transformed an ordinary Tuesday night into a spectacle of high fashion, bold personalities, and downtown cool. The city’s most stylish figures gathered for an evening of lively conversation, avant-garde style, and unexpected musical moments.
Among the standout looks, designer Christina Giersz turned heads in a dress of her own creation, proving that homemade can still mean high fashion. Jack James Busa and Daniel Walters (known as The Muses) embraced theatrical flair in coordinated ensembles that blended Gatsby-era opulence with Phantom of the Opera drama. Meanwhile, Griffin Maxwell Brooks made a statement in a richly patterned textile piece cinched with a harness, and Meruert Tolegen exuded effortless poise as she moved through the crowd ahead of her highly anticipated NYFW debut.
The night’s soundtrack began with a set from Samantha Urbani, setting the tone before MGMT took over. Fans hoping for chart-topping anthems were met instead with the duo’s more offbeat selections—requests for “Electric Feel” and “Kids” were casually ignored. And just when the crowd thought they might cave to nostalgia, MGMT delivered a warped, slowed-down remix of “Electric Feel” that felt more like a wink than a concession.
