Roddy Ricch Accuses YouTuber of Attempting to Extort $50,000 Over Lost Grammy Award

In an Instagram Live session on Monday, December 2, the Compton rapper detailed how his Grammy, which he won for the hit song “Racks in the Middle” alongside Nipsey Hussle and Hit-Boy, ended up lost in the first place and the troubling circumstances that followed. According to Roddy, the situation began when his personal assistant was involved in a “near-fatal accident,” leading to his belongings being mishandled and eventually stored in a facility.

Roddy explained that he had put his items in storage for safekeeping while frequently traveling to Miami, assuming they would be there when he returned. However, in November, Prieto Hunters bought the contents of the storage unit for just $280, including the Grammy.

“That’s how the storage was mishandled,” Roddy said during the Live. “Going back and forth to Miami, I just put my stuff in storage for safekeeping, knowing that when I get down to the house, it’s going to be there.”

After learning that his Grammy had been found, Roddy offered Prieto Hunters $10,000 for the award and other items, but the YouTuber allegedly demanded more. “First, he asked me for an AP [wristwatch],” Roddy continued. “Then he asked for $50,000. So, it was never about, ‘Oh, we’re going to do it on just the strength of trying to get it back to you’ and all that type of st. It was more so about a nga trying to get some clout off it or a n**ga trying to basically extort me for $50,000.”

Prieto Hunters reportedly told Roddy to “go to sleep on it,” but the rapper made it clear that his decision was final. The Grammy, awarded for “Racks in the Middle,” was significant not only for its quality but also because it was the last track Hussle released before his untimely death. The song’s accompanying visual has garnered over 214 million views on YouTube.

Roddy also recalled a tense encounter when one of his associates went to pick up the Grammy. According to the rapper, Prieto Hunters arrived with “two cops and three n**gas with cameras,” a move that added to the growing tension. “The whole situation put a bad taste in everybody’s mouth,” Roddy added, reflecting on the ordeal.

Despite the drama surrounding his Grammy, Roddy has remained focused on his music. The rapper’s upcoming album, THE NAVY ALBUM, is set to drop on December 6, 2024, following the release of singles like “911” and “Survivor’s Remorse” earlier this year.

In a follow-up update, Prieto Hunters confirmed that the Grammy had been returned to Roddy Ricch, where it “belongs.”

The situation has sparked significant online buzz, with fans reacting to the drama and expressing mixed opinions on both Roddy Ricch and Prieto Hunters’ actions.
